Nowadays, most people have many important memories stored on their iPhone. Photos from birthday parties and weddings, important notes and reminders, carefully crafted playlists of their favorite songs, and much more! It’s important to backup your iPhone regularly, and one of the easiest ways to do this is through iCloud. If your phone is ever reset or lost, it will be simple to recover all your important files.
The first step is to make sure you are connected to a Wi-Fi network. This entire process is wireless, so you will need an internet connection before you can begin. Navigate to your Settings, then scroll down and tap iCloud. Scroll down again, and tap backup. iCloud Backup will need to be turned on.
The bottom of the screen will have a button that says Back Up Now, and directly underneath, it will tell you the time and date of your last backup. Tap Back Up Now and stay connected to Wi-Fi until the process is completed.
Apple has made it easy for you to automatically backup your device to iCloud each day. Automatically backing up your device means you never need to worry about doing it manually.
For your iPhone to backup automatically, the following conditions must be met:
- iCloud backup must be turned ON, as outlined above.
- Your iPhone must be connected to power and connected to a Wi-Fi network.
- You must have enough storage space on your iPhone for the backup.
If these conditions are met, when your iPhone screen is locked, the phone will automatically backup to iCloud.
It’s also possible to backup your iPhone manually through iTunes on a computer, however, the above method is much easier and convenient. When you frequently backup your iPhone to iCloud, you will have peace of mind, knowing all your precious memories and files are safe.
